The Self Massage & TRE® Workshop
ACTIVATE your Recovery!
Maybe you are feeling sore, from over training, stress, or repetitive postures like sitting or standing for long hours and you could use regular massage.
Perhaps hiring a massage therapist and going to appointments doesn’t fit your budget, lifestyle, or comfort level.
Maybe you are working with some pain patterns, joint stiffness, or overall icky feeling in your body and mind.
You are curious about the healing power of self massage from the outside in (with foam rollers and small balls) and the inside out with TRE®, tension & trauma release exercise.
Understanding how your body works, moving lymph, hydrating your tissues, building new maps of your body in your brain for increased movement options, better stability, and feeling good in your skin lights up your curiosity!

Learning TRE® and Self Massage can help
In this therapeutic workshop experience you will learn breathing techniques that support good oxygenation of your tissues and support calming your nervous system, activating your repair and recovery mode.
We’ll use soft foam rollers and small soft balls to build body awareness, move internal fluids, and soften into yourself. Beginning with feet and legs we’ll ground the body through the bigger muscles. When you massage your feet your brain receives safety signals that turn down the pain dial. Moving into the hips and back we’ll iron out stiff spots to support your “internal massage” through the TRE® practice. We’ll finish with a few techniques for your head, neck and hands.
This self message practice will prepare you for your TRE® experience. Clients often describe TRE® as a “massage from the inside.” Take, for example, your psoas muscle. This deep hip flexor muscle attaches to the joints of your low back and lies deep in your pelvis connecting you both top to bottom and front to back. If you’ve ever had someone try to massage your psoas, you understand that is a deep and tricky endeavor! With TRE® your body accesses its own natural shaking mechanism to release tension starting with your adductors (inner thighs) and your psoas muscle. Over time with practice the tremoring, shaking, pulsating of your body’s own natural neurogenic tremor response begins to expand throughout your body where a total tremoring is born. Soothing your nervous system; releasing body tension from the deepest internal structures all the way to your periphery, leaving you feeling whole, centered, present, and at ease.
I will interweave the benefits of this practice throughout our experience and offer you some anatomy visuals and physiological understandings to support you in these practices.

As Your TREⓇ provider
My intention is to offer learning and healing experiences that demonstrate equity and inclusion for all human bodies, hearts, and minds. To guide experiences of learning that are co-created and heart centered. To invite individuals to use their own discernment and knowing to make choices that best meet their needs.
Certified TREⓇ Provider
I’m a certified TREⓇ provider (Tension & Trauma Release Exercise). I studied TREⓇ with Jay Gleason MS, LCMHC, LADC of Burlington, VT, and have assisted at his TRE® provider Level 1 & 2 certification training programs. I continue my trauma studies with the works of Stephen Porges, Peter Levine, Deb Dana, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Resmaa Menakem, David Berceli et. al.
Seven years ago I joined my first TRE® group class as a participant to bring more ease into my life experiences living with complex PTSD. TRE® has helped bring more balance and healing to my body. And, since tremoring regularly, my incidences of chronic pain (back & neck), irritable bowel, sleep disturbances, and anxiety, all of which interfered with my ability to work and thrive, have been significantly reduced. Because it has been such a positive experience for me personally, I remain committed to offering TRE® to people as an affordable and accessible strategy for recovery, reducing pain, stress, and the symptoms of stress and trauma.
Experienced Yoga Instructor & Personal Trainer
I have been teaching Hatha Yoga and Yin yoga since 2017. I’m a 500 E-RYT Certified Hatha Yoga teacher, and I also bring 20 years of Personal Training experience, specializing in pre & post rehabilitative work, to my yoga instruction. I hold a Personal Training certification through the American Council on Exercise and am a Balanced Body pilates instructor. I Graduated University of Vermont, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.
Working with people suffering from pain and injury calls me to continually increase my knowledge of the body and its makeup. I’ve completed additional studies in anatomy with the Mount Sinai Hospitals FAMI program. In addition, I’ve taken advanced anatomy studies with Ellen Saltonstall, and have concluded many Cross Country Education modules including rotator cuff therapeutics, spine & back care, osteoporosis, and osteopenia.
I continue my studies in Anatomy Trains fascia programs; Trauma Informed Weightlifting with the Center for Embodiment and Trauma at JRI (Justice Reinvestment Initiative) and am currently undertaking Essentials of Elite Performance with Z-health’s neurocentric (brain based) education for movement professionals. I am CPR certified with the American Heart Association and a Certified Mental Health First Aider. I’m happy to speak with you more to determine if this is a good fit for you. Private sessions and online options are available. You can learn about alternate ways to access this work here.
You engage with the practices to the degree that they feel good and interesting to you. You won’t be missing out by resting and integrating during the TRE® experience if that is your preference.
You don’t need trauma or to identify with it to benefit from TRE®. TRE® was founded by a traumatologist during war time, but it’s been applied in many contexts all over the world. Athletes use this practice to prepare for events, get into flow states, and recover from their competitions. You just need to be human with a body. TRE® also simply means “tension release exercise.”
It is important to me that all humans have access to this work. I am happy to offer tiered pricing and scholarships as well as donation based options for those communities that don’t have access to resources.
