Personal Training and Movement Coaching with Joann

Join me for Personal Training or Movement Coaching sessions designed with your personal vision for your health and fitness desires, plans, and goals. These sessions are collaborative and designed to move and adapt with you as you navigate life. All sessions are offered from a trauma informed lens.

Learn TRE® w/Joann: Private Sessions

The TRE® private package invites you to join me either from the comfort of your own home virtually, or in person to learn how to use the powerful healing practices of TRE® to elicit your body’s own natural neurogenic tremor response. In these sessions, you will explore a variety of ways to stop, start, and relate to your TRE® response including: mindfulness and breathing practices; yoga postures, practices and wellness applications, as desired. We’ll use a variety of props and household items to support, move, or slow your TRE® experience. You can learn TRE® with or without yoga, it’s up to you! The private sessions provide a small healing container to invite more safety in order to enhance your healing potential.

TRE® & Yoga is a simple, gentle and profound practice that facilitates the lengthening and relaxation of the psoas muscle and the release of physical and emotional stress and tension. During the TRE® & Yoga workshop, you will learn about the stress response, polyvagal theory and how yoga and TRE® can support a healthy nervous system. I will guide you through a series of exercises and yoga postures designed to elicit the tremor response. TRE® is intended to be used as a self-help method that is easily learned, has immediate effects and can be integrated into a simple daily routine to help restore a sense of inner-peace and relaxation. This method is based on Dr. David Berceli’s technique of Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises® (TRE®). www.traumaprevention.com

The Self Massage & TREⓇ Workshop
Saturday February 10th @1pm at Dynamic Body, Burlington, VT

In this therapeutic workshop experience you will learn breathing techniques that support good oxygenation of your tissues and support calming your nervous system. We’ll use soft foam rollers and small soft balls to build body awareness, move internal fluids, and soften into yourself. This self message practice will prepare you for your TRE® experience. Clients often describe TRE® as a “massage from the inside.” With TRE® your body accesses its own natural shaking mechanism to release tension starting with your adductors (inner thighs) and your psoas muscle. I will interweave the benefits of this practice throughout our experience and offer you some anatomy visuals and physiological understandings to support you in these practices.

Yoga & Easing Anxiety: April & May 2023

Yoga & Easing Anxiety is an educational and practical yoga experience for people who find themselves overly challenged or suffering with anxiety. This program is designed from a trauma-informed lens that considers your whole being: your biology, your psychology, your social context, and your spiritual self. I actively heal my own anxiety disorder with these practices, and am honored to guide you on this journey.

Online Introduction to TRE® & Yoga: September 2023

Stressed? Looking for a way to access your body’s natural stress recovery response? Join me for the Online Introduction to TRE® & Yoga. You are invited you to join a small group of not more than 8 participants to come together to learn how to use the powerful healing practices of TRE®&Yoga to elicit your body’s own natural recovery response through vibrations, tremors, pulsations, and more, restoring your body’s natural rhythms to bring you more ease and peace.

Fundamentals of Trauma Informed Care for Bodyworkers & Movement Educators with Joann Engelberth & Dr. Julieta Rushford Santiago

Fundamentals of Trauma Informed Care is an introductory educational and practical experience for wellness providers and folks who work with bodies that want to make a greater impact in their clients’ lives while caring for themselves. 

You are in a unique position to usher incredible change in the world through your knowledge and skill in working with the body. Recent science in the healing of trauma recognizes that focusing healing through the body is key to health, happiness, and wholeness.
