What is TRE®???

(d). Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercise accesses your body’s natural healing mechanism that helps restore your body to homeostasis after experiencing stress.

Whether that’s stress from an argument with a loved one; work and life stress; one or more traumatic events; or any of the sources of stress we can experience (social, environmental, inherited, etc.) our bodies respond in very specific ways to stress. Our bodies are also built with self healing mechanisms.

 

You are made for healing and restoration!

 

Have you ever spoken to a large group of people and noticed your hands shaking? Or witnessed a dog shake during a thunderstorm? This shaking response is how our bodies complete the stress response, by releasing adrenaline and cortisol, letting go of muscle bracing habits, and restoring our systems back to homeostasis.

But we don’t let ourselves shake! We’ve been taught to:

 

√ suck it up

√ sit still

√ don’t cry

√ keep it together!

 

On top of that, in the fields of Psychology and Neurology there are all kinds of diagnoses and medications you can be given for that (and sometimes there are very unique situations where this medicine is much appreciated)! Many times, this shaking is simply part of our body’s natural healing intelligence, in this case, in response to digesting stress.
